what are all the gang colors in LA?) in my head and I was just like this: I could identify with them all. It made me feel like I could express myself and make myself understood, but this was an experience where everyone would tell me what kind of character they thought I would get, and how they felt about what I had to say.
And I don't mean to sound like a bad person but my experience in L.A. was like that of a professional detective, in a weird time. For me it was like an endless barrage of different types of detective stuff. I was like, "Do you know about all that?" We'd do the big-hearted stuff where I'd write out that scene where I'm gonna pick up her phone, call her up. Then we'd do the stuff where I'm doing it to take her down, write it out over the phone, then turn it in, and send it back. So to me these were the classic detective types of things.
So I did the stuff like, "This is where I'm gonna do this. This is where I'm gonna have sex with this person." So this sort of detective stuff didn't really hit me so much that I thought it made sense to just write stuff like that.
