The photos come to light thanks to a story written by Kate Bower, a member of Brooklyn's Midtown Alliance to Defend Health.

In the event of a pregnancy, Bower said she doesn't have a problem because she has "lenticular" nails and is proud of them

"I've always lived with it, but my doctor told me it's one of the biggest ones," she said

"I've never seen anything like it from my personal picture and the doctor told me this is my issue: I've had it for three years now, I've never ever had her nail problem," added Bower.

Kathleen Brown said her daughter was pregnant only a few days ago.

"I was in tears when she told everyone that she had a nail problem," said Brown. "She wasn't having any trouble with it, but unfortunately, she's gone through many procedures and there's been no signs of improvement because her nails have really deteriorated."

One mother of two, Brittany K. said many doctors told her she should just move on and not care about her daughter's problems.
