Feminist Women at the Art Institute of Chicago, who organized the project for the first time, are working on two major murals around the city, one depicting a girl on a pedestal outside the museum. One's by a man, while the other, by a female artist whose paintings have always been the subject of criticism, hasn't been made public on Facebook. She said she has no plans on using any of the paintings as paintings.

I interviewed the artist at her apartment at 813 N Union St., who said she's been trying to find a way to connect the paintings to a real life subject that wasn't her own. She acknowledged some of the criticisms are sexist, but she said they also don't really help the art exhibit, since her art is meant to be inclusive to men but not to women.
"[The criticism about] the paintings just don't apply," she said.

The Art Institute doesn't like to release information about its exhibitions, she said, but said she welcomes a community of artists working collaboratively on works that feel meaningful and creative.
It isn't a one-size-fits-all approach, she said. Most modern art museums offer three art exhibitions.
"It is not a one-size-fits-all approach," she said, "whether it's the art or an individual thing."
