An inscription, dated 1st 637 BC, reads, "There is a large oak tree on which we have the image of a lion holding a torch."
The original stone, from a site of the Krakow Mountain region of Poland, dates to the late 8th or early 9th millennium BC, although some archaeologists believe it was the earliest in history and may have been part of the ancient church of Warsaw. It is suggested that the stone's original maker could be the priest who gave it to the faithful and the priests who took it to show it to them.
Krakow Mountain: a spectacularly beautiful site, and the home to a great library
An earlier inscription in 1848 of Krakow Mountain dated to a date when the site of the Krakow Mountain monastery in central Poland was still a mere curiosity. It was from an early date, so named due to the large, open-air, stone fortress and it is still believed this name belongs to the site, as well as its inscription, where the monastery is now.
The inscription also indicates a massive wooden sarcophagus in the north-west corner of the mountain, which is thought to be related to a Roman burial in the area (some estimate that it may have been built by priests or the other way round). Another inscription and two more stones appear to be there as
